I just checked and he offers free shipping in the US anyway.  But, It might be fun to go down there and check out his operation if I could.

I think you would enjoy the visit.  Perhaps Brad can show you his operation and how he makes his boards.  Should be an interesting experience.

I did send him a message and said I would save him the shipping cost and pick it up and maybe get a quick tour of his operation! But I would understand if he doesn't want to waste time with that.  We will see.

Just suggest to him that a little show & tell will help to inspire you to sing his praises on Chess.com!

LOL  we think alike!  That is exactly what I told him!

We engineers do think alike!

Well, Brad did offer to show me his shop, although he said he works out of his garage and it is very unimpressive.  Pretty nice of the guy.

Well I'm going to have to blame Endgame347 and RussBell for my impulse buy today!  I couldn't hold out any longer.  My Colorado Woodworker board is on the way!  After much deliberation, I chose the Peruvian Walnut and Maple Drueke Style:

My Jaques from 1900 would look good on your new board ! grin.png

He' s the best Colorado Woodworker ,

That is a beautiful set!  I think it would look fine on my new board, but those pieces should probably be on a board of the same time period for best affect, no?

Do you have a Colorado Woodworker board?  The question came up about international shipping costs for one of his boards.  Do you have experience with that?

To find a nice antique board in the 1900 or before time frame , is not cheap then with a tendency to be with black sq / not good on my eye's. {Victorian fashion of kinds }

You need have deep pockets when it comes to English antique staunton set's of the Jaques kind not what I have !

Do you have a Colorado Woodworker board?  No, but would like to buy one  ,

What I like is that there are organic not this pressed wood ?

Not so much the shipping more the tax on top of 40% etc .

There is wealthy people with fancy houses, and wooden paneled libraries/office, they buy this things as to fit the style of this spaces. As an Example:

Michael Jackson chess set:

Marble table, Bronze and precious metals, handcrafted. $6 millions.

It will be nice to see the photos of your new board and pieces together!

I’ve always considered a board from CO woodworker, after reading this thread I am now only few clicks away from purchasing one of his boards.
Even though I am a big fan of the original Drueke boards, of which I own a few including the largest Drueke board ever made.

Nice.  In addition to my COWoodworker board, I also own three Drueke boards!.  Here is my large Drueke Board which I purchased new in 1989 (solid wood, walnut & maple with 2.25" squares) and GM Blitz pieces (3.75" King) from ChessBazaar.

Thanks Giuoco -

I agree with you about the emerald green vs the walnut.  In fact the green felt is the cover for the playing surface of my poker table which the board is sitting on (you can see the black arm rail in the background).

I also agree about the older Drueke boards.  All of my Drueke boards are at least 25 years old.  The one in the photo is still my most treasured board (it was my first chessboard, so sentimentality factors in), with my ColoradoWoodworker board a not too distant second.

BTW, I am considering departing with my GM Blitz pieces (3.75" King) from ChessBazaar should you know anyone that'd be interested.

I've used eBay many times but their fees and those of Paypal are getting ridiculous and are killing a lot of deals. Not to mention the shipping costs. I wish there was a platform for people to exchange or sell/buy goods without so much $$ going to a middleman.

What do you want to get to replace them?

Now that you mention it, a Buy ,sell, trade forum would be a great addition to chess.com.  I frequent a mountain biking forum that has that, and it is a popular feature.

I don't know... I think there is some home videos of his kids learning chess on it... but not sure...

I guess the main purpose of something like that is to use it as decoration... in the fashion of an art display, in that case he use it everyday.

In my opinion, I like this kind of display much better than the usual spots cars display.

I would buy it in a heartbeat if I had the bread. As it is I ordered the Cocobolo one down a few from there for $3100 less (they knocked off $100 as I was buying a set of pieces with it.)

I think it’s worth it considering the materials, and that design will never warp. Even solid wood boards like my old Drueke tournament can get a very slight warp to them over time.

I do like this Colorado wood worker board a lot though, especially the router work he did on the edges.

I can’t quote any of your posts on my iPhone, sorry, but wanted to chime in on the forum suggestion: That’s a great idea. I don’t know of a single chess nut who doesn’t have multiple sets, boards and extra pieces, not to mention other extras, and an Exchange / Sale forum would be very welcome.

I don’t expect to ever make much money on my stuff, but could see trading for other sets, etc.

It occurs to me that several of you might be interested to check out my posts of March 7-10, 2017 in the following forum thread with my comments and photos relating to ChessBazaar's GM Blitz set as well as ColoradoWoodworker vs Drueke solid wood boards....

I made a separate thread about my new board:

I agree it is an idea that makes a lot of sense.  I started a thread in the "Site Suggestions" sub-forum:
