A beautiful Soviet or Eastern European set

Do you know where this set is from? "It's from my grandmother" said the Bavarian vendor of these beautiful pieces. (The folding board is Russian from the 1920ies, but it does not belong to the pieces).

This position occured after 14. Ld3-f1 Nd7-c5 in Geller-Hübner 1-0, Las Palmas 1976. Not that I study a lot wink.png

Any suggestions on the origin of this style would be welcome, thank you.

I love those Knights! Very nice proportion between the head and the body. Very pleasant carving and details. Great find.

This is a well known set that has quite a few variations, one nicknamed "acorn set" due to the shape of the bishop. The characteristic of the set is the stem with its strong inverted V and the delicacy of the join where the upper part starts.

Your variation is identical to this one here made by Kultsport in 1940, belonging to the collection of Eduardo Bauza. (screenshot taken from Chuck Grau's amazing website https://sovietchesssets.com/2022/10/18/artel-kultsport-serving-the-needs-of-political-chess/
