Excuse me, but does anyone know the actual weight of a weighted or double-weighted set?  I am looking to make my own weighted set.    Thanks!!

If you go to houseofstaughnton.com (SP?)they will tell you the total set weight and you can do a little math from there.

You should also read through the FAQ section at House of Staunton. If memory serves, they answer a question similar to yours.
