baddogno is a good guy - He's always very helpful. I'd guess that he didn't do it on purpose. And I'm not sure, but I don't think he's an admin.
Ad overwrote my comment about Hiarcs !?

btw, in your other thread, I actually had to kill baddogno's ad using uBlock Origin so that I could read his comment. I'm sure he didn't realize that his ad messed everything up.

Agreed, baddogno is a helpful poster, this won't have been deliberate.
It looks like whatever baddogno has posted has upset the chess.com software, I suppose this could be reported to chess.com support

Thank you gentlemen. Of course the issue of my original post remains covered & not addressed.
I reported it to chess.com support.

The product is Hiarcs Chess Explorer for the PC ( Windows ). I'm a registered owner of ver 1.9.4 . I've always thought highly of Hiarcs ; it's my most used chess software. A feature Opening Explorer allows one to study an opening tree : the popularity & score of each branch. This allows it to be used as a database in addition to a UCI . At my patzer level I don't need any much-more-expensive database programs.
About 3 years ago my hard drive crashed. I contacted Hiarcs and Mark Uniacke kindly sent the code & upgrade at no additional charge.
The Opening Explorer will load your pgn database or would access two Hiarcs databases GM or GM+. About a week ago these went blank , saying [Out of book] when attempting to access. The ad baddogno plastered over my post sells a database for about $ 35 per year . I'm long retired and using Hiarcs allowed me to avoid exorbitantly priced software.
I'm puzzled. Has Hiarcs changed hands ? Is baddogno a shill for them ? Does he have special status or is there a backdoor in chess, com allowing him to do this ?

@Little_ernie I looked at the post and @baddogno was actually trying to be helpful. You can see his post behind the ad. You can actually scroll through it. I think there is something wrong with the chess.com code or at least how it interpreted the posted link that baddogno inputted.

My concern may have been about nothing. My Hiarcs now has the GM & GM+ databases back online.
Shame that they're hard to contact.

I guess it's a moot point now, but there were a few related posts in the HIARCS forum:

Also, it looks like you tried the wrong e-mail address. It appears you should have contacted them at their support address. (However, if it was down for everyone due to an upgrade or other problem, Mark may not have had the time to reply to anyone.)
This AM I posted that Hiarcs had dropped their Opening Explorer databases.
'baddogno' overwrote this with a full page ad that will not close . It has a [close] button but repeatedly clicking this does nothing.
This effectively shuts down any discussion of my issue. Is this allowed by and the policy of chess.com ?
I bought Hiarcs and is it ethical for them to drop one of the features for which I paid. And who is this a__hole baddogno and why does he have administrator privileges ?
