Advice on Custom Set

Hi,

Looking for an advice on the custom chess set. I was after a chess set for a quite awhile. Only have a plastic one at the moment. Chess for me is an occasional hobby so I am far from most of the people on this forum. I am quite attracted to the unusual chess sets - handmade etc... After reading a bit on the forums I can see my taste is different from everyone else who prefers clasical sets.

I was offered to buy a handmade set on the pictures below which I quite like, but for the money I keep having doubts even though I don't think I ll sell it. Don't want to throw money down the drain. Can you advise if such sets retain their value (being handmade etc...) or is better to buy classic Staunton Chess set?

Its hard to tell if the set will retain its value or not. Theme sets are not very collectable IMO compared to an original Jaques set.

All sets value (generally speaking) diminish over time. That being said, there are still people that will pay tons of cash for an amazing and original chess set.
