Hi I own the Millennium king Performance and I'm looking for some nice new wooden pieces for it. The ones that came with it are fine but I'd like a nicer set. The king is just under 3 inches about 2.8 I believe. Any recommendations? Cheers!

I can't answer your question, but I'm interested t know if you can get he rfid chips for Millennium boards. I've just ordered a T55 Supreme.

You can use any set that fits with this machine, since the board has pressure-sensors. I used eg a German Knubbel set, which worked nicely. The pieces that come with the computer are garbage.

Nice wooden pieces in the correct size (4cm squares, 1.6") are not that many. I would suggest you should have a look to these. I think they are very nice for the size, and the price is fair (shipping is free, but you need to consider tax in addition - the listing price was $99 by that time).

You can have a look to the set I ordered last summer in this page. You will also spot the chessmen I currently use with my King Performance, the Vero ones. But should you like this design, you would need to find them used. Anyway, the Collector Series are better to my humble opinion.

Hope this helps!

Thanks all for the info. Those sets look very nice Kiwimotard and I'll certainly try and source something. Like you say, good chess pieces at this size are hard to come by and I really like the king Performance so I won't be getting rid of it that's for sure!

There is a chap on here called Rsava, he converted a library set to work on the DGT Pegasus. That is the nicest library set I've seen. As I recall, the black pieces were a deep wine colour but they were available in black too. I looked them up and the shipping from the us was more than the chess set. I'm friends with him on here if you'd like me to find out what they were?

Thanks Kevin. Yeh you could do but shipping from the US to the UK is mental. I'm struggling to find a good weighted set over here though. The board size on the KP is 32cm x 32cm with a square size of 4cm.

It’s a plastic set, is that ok?

Ah no, sorry, I was looking at getting a wooden set. Cheers anyway Kevin. Hope the T55 is is okay.

No problem. The T55 was crap, I sent it back. Very poor quality.

Hi, while I had The King Performance (now sold), I tried two alternative sets on it, both from Chessbazaar:

1. The Knubbel pieces:

2. The "Contemporary Staunton"

Both I think work nicely with TKP and are much better quality than the set that came with it.

Thanks chessmaster_diamond I'll take a look. Why was the T55 crap? What you looking at next Kevin?
