Chavet is definitely still making unweighted wooden pieces.
I also see a TON of low-end, unweighted sets from Lardy, K&C, etc. on ebay.co.uk; are there any of them on the US ebay?
Any wooden unweighted chess set?

I'm guessing you're interested in wooden pieces.

These chess sets, which are manufactured by Sunrise Handicrafts in Poland, are weighted.

Are you sure? Do you own these?
Does not say weighted. Plus, look at the shipping weight. 2.2 lbs. This includes the storage box. It does say, "weighted with metal", in the description; that must be some lite metal.
I have inquired about these chessmen in the past, unless something has changed. They are not weighted. The chessmen are solid wood with felt bottoms.
I have yet to find someone that can provide individual weights of these chessmen. If you can, please do. Thanks.
I have ordered chessmen in the past that have been decribed as "weighted" and were not. I have even seen some sellers that consider felt added to the bottom as a weighted piece. The description does say metal, this is true... but im guessing this might be incorrect.
UPDATE: okay, the manufacture webiste does say the pieces are weighted, I guess I'm wrong here. Still, they seem pretty lite looking at the shipping weight or 2.2 lbs with the storage box.

2ND UPDATE: something is very wrong here. the manufacture website says the set is 2kg, that is almost 4.4 lbs. (just the chess pieces). Either the shipping weight is wrong or these are not the same chessmen.

I own a couple of their Staunton No.7 sets.
One I bought from The Chess House, and another I purchased direct from Sunrise Handicrafts along with a bunch of their storage boxes. The chess sets alone weigh over 26 ounces each and the storage boxes weigh over 17 ounces each. The bottoms of all of the chessmen are noticeably heavier than their upper portions.
In comparison, my two unweighted taller soviet wooden chess sets both weigh less than 16 ounces each. You would have probably seen that "double-weighted" chess sets of similar size to the Sunrise Handicrafts Staunton No.7 chess set typically weigh somewhere in the vicinity of 37 ounces, or so. Based on the previous facts, I really think that weight stated on the Amazon page is incorrect.

"Shipping weights" are what the shipping rates that customers' are charged are based on. They are often not at all what an item really weighs.
The chess set that I purchased from The Chess House is the same chess set that I purchased from Sunrise Handicrafts, and the chess sets and storage boxes look just like their photographs on the Amazon, The Chess House, and Sunrise Handicrafts websites.

Shipping weight for set No. 7 set is 2.6 lbs., based on your numbers this is correct.
Unless they provide the weights all you have to go by is the shipping weight.
Set No. 7 is a large set (almost 4 inch king) and the peices are only 1.6 lbs. ? That is some very lite metal weights.

I only said that they were definitely weighted, not that they were "heavily", "double", or "triple" weighted.
As I said, my two unweighted 4"+ soviet chess sets, both weigh less than 16 ounces each, and "single-weighted" 3.75" indian-made chess sets often weigh only about 30 ounces or even less.

They look just like their photographs on the websites mentioned above. Already somewhat old-looking stained dark pieces, lightly-weighted. Extra queens sold seperately on Amazon.com. No loose weights or felts on my two sets. Simple and functional (or, very plain and rather crude, however you choose to look at it) knight carving just like all of those "German Knight", "European Knight", "International", "Standard", or "FIDE" chess sets. If you like those, you may well like these, too.

here is a video of the set:

Is there a such thing as 1/2 weighted? (I am joking)
Thanks for correcting me on this Jack!

The dark pieces are stained, but a little unevenly so that they appear to be slightly worn.
The pieces are not polished or laquered and are not shiny.

I don't know how to answer that question other than to say that they're regular wooden chess pieces which aren't polished to be shiny so they're not as smooth to the touch as highly polished ones, but there's nothing particularly rough about the finish.
Incidentally, the queens of the No.6 and No.7 sets are exactly the same width and height but with very slightly different crowns. I only own the No.7 set, but from the photographs of these two sets, it appears that the only difference between the two of them may well be the different height kings and the slightly different top queens.
Hello guys,
does anybody know of any wooden unweighted chess pieces?
I see a lot of them weighted, double weighted and even triple weighted.
If you do please let me know!
Thanks
