Anyone else ever had a RF veneer board with warping issues?

My Rechapados Ferrer walnut and maple (2.25" squares) from HOS is ever so slightly warped.  It's definitely playable and looks great but it is definitely not flat --- slightly bowed.  I'm just a bit surprised because I thought one of the benefits with veneer is that they should not warp.  I thought that was usually just an issue with solid wood boards.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with an RF board?  Are my expectations of a perfectly flat board unrealistic?  If it's still playable --- the warping is slight --- should I just live with it?

I'm having a difficult time not being disappointed about it and was just curious to see what other's had to say on the topic.

Thanks either way...

So is the board made of particle board or ply?

Replace with exchange or refund partial .

I'm not sure.  One thing I should have specified is that it's a RF deluxe board --- or as HOS sells them, "standard traditional".

A warped board maybe upgrade to that RF deluxe if they will do that or simple refund a customer shouldn’t regret a purchase sometimes buyers fault but this is not the case here.

Woah. A warping Rechapados Ferrer board is not heard about too often. RF boards are way more common in the EU where the manufacturer is located. Quite a few EU forum members have multiple RF boards due to them being so affordable. AND good looking! Hope they take the time to respond.

Out of curiosity. How severe is the warp? How many pennies in a corner does it take to shimmy it up to stop the rocking?

Buy from a better manufacturer in future!

Are you trolling or do you not know that RF is one of the most respected manufacturers of veneer boards?

Can you post a picture of the board?  I'm not sure what RF uses for their boards, but neither MDF nor rigid plywood should warp at all.

NO

Never heard of a RF board warping, had my one for years /  would send it back or get a refund from HOS or exchange  ,  nervous.png

It's subtle --- I would say about 2 pennies, maybe 3

I tried taking some pictures but the issue is slight and the pictures weren't coming out well.  It's one of those things where in person it's very easy to notice.  The board surface looks beautiful --- squares, wood tones, smoothness, etc. are all top notch.  I must just be unlucky because I've heard nothing but great things about RF boards on this forum and the reviews are what made me want to buy one.  Maybe I'll just live with a slight bow because I really do like everything else about the board.

I have 3 RF boards of varying sizes (including a DGT non-electronic branded board) and they are thankfully all still flat. I've only had them for around a year, though, so take that with a grain of salt. I'd definitely ask HOS about it. Good luck!

@EBowie  You didn't mention how old the board is. Is it a recent purchase? If the board is under a year old, definitely send an email to HOS about the issue and a photo. In the photo, use the pennies in the corner as an indication of the severity of the warp. A well written description and detailed photo goes a long way. Good luck!

Thanks all for the replies and advice.  The board is only a couple months old.  I'm going to look into discussing with House of Staunton.  I might keep the board because I really love the playing surface.  I'm partial to horizontal wood grain for the squares.  With my luck, the replacement will have vertical grain and then I'll be second guessing whether I should have just lived with a slight warp.  Oh well, not a huge issue, but something to ponder.  Thanks again.
