Anyone Notice Bases Shrinking

I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed that the base diameter of more recent versions of chess pieces being made are being reduced in size? I made a spreadsheet of HOS pieces that I owned or considered purchasing some years ago and many of them available now vs then have had the diameter of the base of the king reduced.
One thing that contributes to piece stability is base size along with height and weight distribution.
