Harder to store and prone to mechanical issues. Mechanism was clearly a sign of its time. Excalibur Electronics scrapped their own attempt with an updated robotic arm. The only known picture of their prototype is this.

Wonder which older technologies they are referring to? Most of the current technologies work great.

I don't see lights on the board in the videos. Really don't want the move called out to me, just give me lights.
