I can’t think of anyone who deserves one more, Chuck. Congratulations on this beautiful and historic acquisition!

Thanks for the kind words.

@cgrau  Do the Tal sets have a nautical history in the beginning? Which might explain the wide chunky bases and heavy weights? Or just an evolution of style and aesthetics through the years.

I don't think the design originates in nautical history. I do think it derived from a particular set, but that is a story for another day.

Congrats! Wow! That set is nice! It is very hard to make out the details of the set from photos, so it is very refreshing to see an original set.

@cgrau - your delight in adding this set to your collection is evident in your writing and in the appreciation of your friend who facilitated the outcome.

Wonderful photos and information that you have provided.

It makes me smile because when someone like me, who has a few sets only, gets excited when I add a new (and historically insignificant) set to my wee collection…. I can only imagine the deep satisfaction and joy that you must feel for having found something you have coveted for a long time.

Congratulations and thanks for sharing your experience with this forum.

This set is truly exceptional.  For some reason, I was not surprised to hear it is heavily weighted.  This show the quality difference of the sets they made for the masses versus those made for the more elite.  This is very nice.

Cgrau. It’s good to see a post from you here after almost a decade of silence. I’ve been enjoying the pics of the sets in your old posts. Hope to see more awesome historical and/or beautiful sets.

+1 but I don't think it has been a decade right? 3-4 years maybe.

Haha, thanks! Actually, I last posted here in 2019. Maybe it only seems like a decade.
