Yes indeed, @DoYouLikeCurry ... they just love to hear their jowls flop.

Your question is wrong. @DoYouLikeCurry , I answered you already; I'll write It again for you: no coach will offer you anything that you can't do on your own

When you reach 1600 you'll be qualified to get on the list here

What happens when somebody is 1600 and joins but during your lessons his/her rating drops below 1600? Are they asked to leave the classes?

Unfortunately yes. I will have to eliminate them from my program because I'm not going to level down just because they decided to not take the lessons seriously enough

It's called the PAY ME for ZERO Reason special deal except for a couple "Atta boys" and "Keep going"s .... wink

What are you talking about? The lessons are completely free

Having had a coach before, they can work as an excellent bridge between your current level and engines. It makes no sense having a coach who isn’t at least similar in level to you. coaches are higher rated because they know more about the game and can pass on knowledge to help you improve.

^ I already answered, and you focussed only on the bit about top players.

Labelling things that you can't understand as trolling is a common practise nowadays, yes.

Who told you It makes no sense ? You make that assumption in your statement from your personal experience, so its just a personal opinion of yours, nothing against It tho

So make it make sense

A master level player can bridge the gap between my level and engines, and therefore teach me things I don’t know. You can’t. So what do you offer that I can’t do?

I still don't see any reasonable explanation from your point of view. You make an assumption and circle around it like its true and self explanatory.

I have nothing against personal opinions even if they are flawed

Grock will do the conceptual part ( in depth analysis, tips and strategy ) and I Will do the human part ( cheer up the player, say "keep working on it" every now and then and check their progress, ask 'what have you learned today' etc).

Note that Grock/Stockfish would be my extension so it would be like me having 2500 elo or even better

I would like to offer cooking lessons. I'm not a professional cook, but I do cook my own meals. I also know how to eat food and tell you if it tastes good, and I can give you a thumbs up as needed. I need one student for each day of the week...this is totally free of charge, you only need to provide your own ingredients. The tastings will require one plate's worth each, so I can really give you good feedback on your progress...

P.S. It's Grok (from Stranger in a Strange Land, by Heinlein). I would have to be a bit concerned that you don't know the name of your primary resource...

You don’t see a reasonable explanation for which bit, sorry? That master level players help you improve? Or that a lower rated player can’t teach me much if anything?

look mate, I like that your trying to do something nice, and I understand you have good intentions. But the thing is, you cant really coach players who are better than you. maybe one GM coaching another, or something a bit less serious, but if your 1300, your simply not going to be able to understand the tactics, themes and ideas that are essential at higher levels, even using an engine. Take a complicated endgame study for example. if your trying to coach a 2300 on a 15 move sequence with 20 odd different variations in a deeply theoretical situation, how are you going to do anything more than tell them what moves are available. you simply wont be able to understand how to do something, or why the engine things certain moves are better. Once again, i dont mean to put you down or make fun of your idea, because in the end you offered it because you wanted to help someone else improve, and thats great. but i just think coaching players lower rated than you would be a better idea

You should not be posting these links outside of the clubs forum.
