Hey chess set lovers. I came across this set and decided to go and get it. The set is from chesscentral.com I was wondering if any of you collectors or players have either played with or own this set? From the pictures and description of the set. Seems like a winner. Looks similar to a Deluxe Staunton or a Reykjavik copy.

$80 with free shipping was hard to pass on. I will post updates once I receive the set.

I’ll be interested in your impression once you get them. Chess Central isn’t exactly renowned for their product selection or quality.

I wasn't too impressed with their selection but this one caught my eye and I wanted to get it for the price they were selling it.

The set looks pretty normal, I bet you could play chess with it happy.png

Tell us how it handles when you get it, and if you win with it in your first game happy.png

Nice bishops. I dislike the pointy head ones.

I also checked out that site. I like some of the plus size pawns of the Carpathian sets. Im digging the contemporary/modern sets. i can see me playing with a brandy and a good cigar.

I like spherical Bishop's head as well. I can deal with tear drop and onion headed Bishops so long as the miter isn't extremely wide and deep. However spherical Bishop heads I do like the most. I also like the light bulb shaped heads for Bishops as well.
