Wow! For some reason, I never thought anyone would even try to compete with Noj. I guess I was wrong. The price is very attractive. No way they can compete with Noj on the finish. I wonder how CE will do against Noj in terms of design.
BCE repro from the Chess Empire
Look completely different from NOJ BCE. Those pieces have collars, BCE sets don't. Don't like either.

@Audioq There are collars on the BCE stage 2 and stage 3. Here is a link to a thread about stage 3: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-equipment/introducing-best-chessmen-ever-stage-3
Apologies @MCH818 you are obviously correct. I must have missed that post somehow. Truly awful pieces mind you.

BCE Stage 1 is my favorite design. Beyond that it loses its simple design and is too much. Noj Stage 2 & 3 designs are ugly in my opinion. The collars are not needed it adds to the original design when it shouldn't. Even though I think Noj's prices are way out in left field. I do like the BCE Stage 1 design. Keep It Simple Stupid K.I.S.S.

Not sanctioned. I am especially disgusted by their "Originally designed by the Chess maestro of The Chess Empire" claim.

This is disgusting.
They have obviously copied the name as well as some of the design elements of the original Best Chessmen Ever originals.
I own the Stage 2 in Eastern Wanut with stainless steel bases. This set looks great. I understand a person only deciding from a picture or so, but that is wrong.
The Noj quality is the best. Anyone that has actually handled one of these agrees. Yes, they are higher priced, but so what? You get what you pay for.
And the case of this copy you don’t even get what you pay for.

Yes should be ,
Hanged, drawn and quartered
I have a very bad experience with Indian pieces. I had three indian sets and threw all three in the trash. The finish is disastrous, the pieces crack and wobble, felt is too slippery and falls off. I play only with my vintage sets they are much better.

@ifekali I love my BCE and your passion for creating such a unique set. It doesn't surprise me they would try to steal your designs. I know it doesn't help when I say they likely can't compete with your passion and NOJ's quality. I hope there is something you can do to stop them.

FYI... the listing should be reported to Etsy. @ifekali I expect you own a copyright on the design. Was it patented as well?

I'll be reporting the listing. Since they accept PayPal payments, I would also report the listing to PayPal.

No apologies needed. We all miss stuff here and there. Personally I don't prefer the BCE stage 2 or 3. I do like the stage 1. I really like the knight in particular. It is simple but not too simple.

Again buttering up NOJ's butthole, as always.
That's completely uncalled for and disrespectful to everyone in the community.

Don't pay attention to him. He is probably mentally ill. He bought 50 garbage sets in a year and thinks he is the smartest of us all ...

And this is the reason I stopped posting here for awhile.
Guys like sound67 and KnightsForkCafe come on this forum biased against higher priced places and the sets they sell. And they are happy to insult and lie about others posting here about these sets. Vulgarity and name calling is also something they are happy to use do.
The interesting thing is they do not and will not buy or own any of these better quality and higher priced sets. So they do not and cannot give an honest assessment of the individual sets.
I do not suffer fools gladly. KnightsForkCafe and now, sound67 are truly fools when it comes to Chess sets.

Getting ripped off is something I don't subscribe to Eyechess. The forum was actually quite nice with you gone and not pointing your snobbish nose at affordable sensible choices for chess sets. Here comes the pointless bickering over pieces of wood again.
Saw this Best Chessmen pieces today on etsy. Looks remarkably similar to BCE Stage 3 Western from Noj. Is this sanctioned by Izmet?
