beautiful new board

My son in-law made me a beautiful Ash and Walnut chessboard...2.25 squares. He also got me the Legend products Algeria plastic pieces 4" king. The set is very nice but have had a few comments that the board is too nice for plastic. Any suggestions? I want a Staunton style 4" king . I like the Algeria but maybe wood is the way to go. thanks, Gene
I'd agree a nice board doesn't go well with plastic, check out House of Staunton.
Can we see the board with a wood set if you have one to display? Much thanks.
How do I post a pic in this thread? (using Android app and phone). For the time being I don't have a wooden set.
There's a toolbar on the bottom of this post thread just below the facebook, twitter, reddit, google plus and share icons. You'll see what looks like a checkerboard box and next to that is an image of an insert image icon. Click on that to load the picture of your board as you did when you first initiated this thread. It's that simple. Put the Algeria set on the board if that's the only one you have, this section is all about equipment and chess books and yours would fit in quite well as a topic of conversation.
Thanks, it was easy...but the photos are not great.
Very nice board. Is playing surface attached to the base mechanically or with glue? Looks a lot like Colorado woodworker chess board.
my son in-law called it "floating". I believe there are angle brackets, I don't know if there is adhesive as well. It is very solid.

Well it's a beautiful board but I'm sorry to inform you that you'r going to have to buy a nice wood chess set to compliment such a nice board. Lol

Father's day gift...4" king, rosewood and boxwood. From the chessstore. will try to post pictures. Wooden set looks better on this board.

Did you receive the "Fierce Knight" or "Exclusive Staunton" set? Those are the only 2 rosewood-boxwood Staunton 4" king sets being currently sold on the Chess store website. They're both very nice and would go well with your board.
