I like wood pieces the best. I like simple pieces that are simple not skinny or fat or tall or short.

Are you asking a question?  I like the Staunton design, especially the pieces offered by House of Staunton.  They are just classically beautiful!

Interesting. I often find wood pieces to be too light. I usually prefer heavy plastic pieces.

I have 2 sets from House of Staunton.  The wood sets are heavier, but only a few grams.  I just love the look of the wood pieces.  I do get more play out of the plastic tournament set though.  It always stays in my car and is ready to go if I get a challenge from the guys at work.I like both, but the wood just has a classic natural beauty that the plastic doesn't deliver.

The Civil War chess set by The Franklin Mint!

Just kidding...remember that advertised on late-night television during the 80's?

I was at a party the other week and while scavenging fer drinks i found a chess set and was excitedly drunk setting it up hoping to get a blitz game with someone there... but it was a mini set of soapstone... argh!! It was so delicate each time i tried to move the pieces i knocked something over and could hardly tell what piece was what..i gave up when it took me 5 mins just to set up all the pieces lol.. so i donnae like those kind of sets heh.

I love my double-weight wood Staunton pieces. Classic look and feel nice in your hand. Doesn't really matter though. I'd play with hollow plastic ones if I had to.
