Book for beginner

Hi guys.

I'm just wondering if anyone could point me in to the right direction for a book that would be helpful to me.

Iv recently got back in to chess after only playing it when I was younger (I'm 18 now). I'm enjoying the game and am hovering around the 1200 rating mark but have never read any chess books or had a coach to give me tips or anything of that nature. I'm hoping someone could reccomend a beginners book which helps me out with the basics but stuff that will improve my game. Obviously i'm not bothered about remembering 100's of different openings and lines (yet) so books that refrain of that will be great.

Small steps to start, right?
