Inlaid coordinates? That's impressive.
Nice-looking board.
+1 to that
Here's a nice set I picked up from Wholesale chess that cost me $31 in total and I had fixed the loose weights from more than half the chessmen received. I had asked for replacements and in the meantime repaired all of the pieces which had the worse type of glue holding in the weights. A good solid rap on a hard surface loosened every piece with the exception of a rook and a pawn out of 68 chess pieces. Although customer service replaced 35 pieces I had placed those to the side as replacements. I used Gorilla Super Glue Gel to firmly adhere the weights and felt bottoms I got from a Etsy.com distributer in Camel and Caramel color as a change of paste in color. For these sets I used the Caramel colored felt rounds. They worked out extremely well. Now I have two great "banger" sets to use outdoors and save my wooden chess sets for indoor play. The pictures are of the finished pieces and difference in felts. In additon each set came with Cloth Drawstring bags at no extra cost. This same deal will now cost you $44. 98 for 2 sets. I think I got a great deal even though I had some repair work to do which cost me an additonal $6.00 in repair material costs
I got a quadruple wt set off of Amazon. They shipped from "supply company", I can't remember the maker. Its nice, the pieces are huge though. I prefer my smaller wooden set. HOS has the best selection.
Yes I thin I know the distributer of that quadruple set you refer to mcostan. They have 2 identifiers which I'm a believer are one in the same, Portland chess club and Chess Geeks. The set is definitely a very nice weight and great pricing and the HOS has great selections although a bit pricey but if you can catch periodic sales you can get very nice sets both in wood and plastic from them.
salcero: That's some board!
I'm not sure I would want the algebraic myself but I'm fascinated they can inlay the alphanumerics with a computer process.
It took 8 weeks to arrive, 2 days before Christmas but well worth the wait. I have the alphanumeric board for recording game purposes. Both from Andrei Muntian from MTM wood. I may opt for just one more from him but I have to see what type of wood I wood prefer. That Black Walnut/Hard maple that Andrei made for Black Knight Tango is a board that had peaked my interest. Perhaps Mid 2016 God willing.
The making of this board is on a Youtube video. You can locate it with this title "Making an Endgrain Chessboard" in the Youtube search box. When I first saw this video I immediately contacted the artisan and ordered one without any hesitation whatsoever. A similar board sold by a company named Summerville out of New England (Chesshouse website) without the Alphanumeric characters will send one back at least $800. This one is just a couple ticks less than half that price. Not for everyone but definitely for me. Not that I do this often but even some of my better quality plastic sets would play well and look good on this board.
