chess bazaar vs hos

I have a fancy club set from cb. I like the set a lot. I use it daily.
Hos sells an identical set for twice the price.
Ive heard the hos one will be of higher quality, but aside from heavier weight, i never hear specifics. I am thinking of selling my set and buying the hos one.
Im curious to hear from people that have been able to directly compare the “higher end” india sets with the “lower end” ones. (At least that has been my understanding of cb vs hos)
Here is the cb one

Well, I paid attention to what you said about liking the set from CB that you like it a lot and use it every day.

If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.

I just looked at the two different set descriptions.

The King height on the CB version is 0.1 inch shorter.  That’s not much difference at all.

It is my opinion there is not enough difference between the two sets to warrant the large price difference.

And this is not as if you don’t know how the CB set will look and feel in real life and will be taking a risk the CB set will be of low quality.  You already own, use and really like it.

I am concerned you will be extremely disappointed if you spend such a big price difference and don’t see enough of a quality difference.
I don’t mean to be crass, but the HOS version looks to be completely created by the manufacturer with Frank Camaratta not having anything to do with the design.  And the vast majority of the best sets coming out of HoS has seen Frank having some control in its creation.

So my suggestion would be to save your money for something else and enjoy what you already own.

Agree with @Eyechess. For many sets the only difference between buying from HOS v CB or other direct seller is that the service may be slightly better from HOS if you have problems with the set. But you already have the set and no problems! There are a few examples of sets which Frank worked on which, imho, are better quality. Specifically the old Timeless series of Jaques reproductions, where HOS sets seemed to me to be by far the most accurate.

Here is the thing. The main problem with chess bazaar is they are a bit inconsistent, some of their sets are great, others (exact same set ordered again a few weeks later) are not so great.

If you got a set from them and you see no flaws in it, enjoy - you won the prize and got a great set for less money.

Thanks guys. Ill save my nickels and get another set...
...maybe an noj

I am a little late here but I agree with @Eyechess, @BattleDuck, and @Audioq. If you have the CB set already why buy an identical one from HoS. I have many sets from HoS and one from CB. I can't see any difference. I have a Noj set and it is far superior to HoS and CB in terms of the finish.

There are some products that qualify for "free worldwide shipping - terms and conditions apply".  Almost everything is now out of stock but you may find something on their website - all the "free shipping" items are here.  Good hunting!
