hi i new too i reading chess training book 1 and 2 by lev alburt and al lawrence i have also found the chess mentor on this site is the best thing since sliced breadSmileSmile

I would recommend learning tactics first.

I'd try Ward Farnsworth's Predator at the Chessboard. It is available online at chesstactics.org.

Anything written by Lev Alburt is definitely the way to go.  That's true for every chess player but even more so for the novice.  I would suggest starting by his chess training Volumes I and II.  That's a lot to absorb for starters!
