I posted a few days ago about an app called e+ Chess.
It has many chess books (apparently) formatted for it and it has dynamic boards that allow you to move through the diagrams that are in the books..
I like it. But for some reason, I can't buy any of the books that they have in their store. They do have some free material that's good, but I found the app while looking for digital versions on Nimzovitch books. They have My System, and another one in their store.. (just 15$ per book).
If you could figure out how to get their 'store' working, then I think e+ would be better than Kindle..
I'm a new player and looking to start building a small collection of chess books.
It seems that a lot of titles are available in Kindle format these days, so I'm wondering whether Kindle or paper is the way to go. I will be using an iPad Mini as the reader.
pro-Kindle: A lot of older books (even some newer ones) are $9.99 but may still be ~$20 in paper format. You always have them with you for easy reference, and they are delivered instantly instead of 2 days (Amazon Prime) or sometimes a couple weeks (used books from non-Amazon sellers).
pro-paper: They are future-proof, and you can sometimes find used copies cheap of older books. You can look at them while ALSO doing something on your tablet such as playing/reviewing a game.
One of my concerns is that while reading reviews on Amazon I have come across a lot of reviews that say that the Kindle version of such-and-such a book is poor and lacks proper organization/hyperlinks/etc...
I figure that anyone who's gone down the Kindle road already would know whether this is a great thing because you always have your books with you or a nightmare because you spent your money on shoddily done conversions and ended up with nothing tangible to show. And, some Kindle books are inexplicably just as pricy as the paper versions.
Thoughts?
