A DGT e-board for me is unparalleled by any other. I had a DGT Smartboard, new, but I sold it to replace it with a second hand USB eboard. I then purchased the DGT upgrade kit to replace the USB-B mini with a USB-C, and I have today a pretty much new DGT eboard, of which I'm 200% happy.

@agatti1970

Where did you find this upgrade kit? I can't find it on the DGT site.

I would really appreciate your answer.

WhitePawn, Chessfor Android, ChessDojo are not really running stable with my Smart Phone and an OTG cable USB-C (Smart Phone) to USB-B mini (older DGT USB eBoard). Maybe the board does not get enough power?

Looking currently also into Chessnut Pro and Millennium Supreme 55 with ChessLink for online play. Would you have any suggestions?

Hi, you need to contact DGT Support via their website and ask for such upgrade kit. They will ship you the kit with the instructions to perform the upgrade, after checking with you, to make sure that your board can be upgraded. As far as Android App, my very favorite one is Acid Ape Chess, which works great with the DGT board (to play against engines) and connected to Lichess. It does not support Chess.com.

@agatti1970

Thank you so much! I will do as you suggest and post the results here.

Does Acid Ape Chess show the moves on the DGT clock, when playing online (Lichess)?

I am not used to play with (audio) announced moves.

agatti1970
It does show them on the dgt 3000, it shows it on its own chessboard display, and it announces them. For me it is the Android app of choice.

Perfect. That sounds exactly like the app I am looking for. Now let's see, if DGT finds my boards upgradable.

..Oh, and before someone jumps into the conversation, crying: yes, to use the DGT board with Acid Ape, you need to pay some $$$ to enable the DGT drivers. It's a one-off payment, and for me it was very well worth it, even if it's not cheap. Since I started using Acid Ape, I said bye-bye to any problems in using my DGT with engines or Lichess so _for me_ it's worth every penny.

Love playing OTB with friends on my DGT e-board using Acid Ape chess. Worth the money to me. However, there is clock lag (when the DGT3000 is plugged in) - which can be very frustrating. They do acknowledge this in the user manual and have made improvements for support (i.e. not having to use mode 25 on the DGT3000).

Has the ZMF/House of Staunton exclusive eboard been discussed in the CB&E forums yet? It goes for $695.

Looks very nice. Seems it uses a RFID technology, which is newer technology than the DGT's one.

However, I don't like it too much for the following:

- The metal plate where the connector and lights are, is poorly designed and crafted.

- Personally I don't like the wood they used, with those "stripes" on the squares and on the border. They claim that it is made of Rosewood, however, if you compare their Rosewood with DGT's one, DGT's come out much much better.

I do own a DGT Rosewood board ;-)

Yeah, that "tiger" stripe grain is not for everyone. That is one of the things that draws me to the board.

The striped wood pattern of their veneer board sets the ZMF/HOS apart from the boards by DGT.
The ability to use the latest ZMF double-sided chess clock that can be set using a smart device is also a perk. We can finally integrate Chronos-style clocks with a wooden board that is full-sized and uses tournament standards

I'm playing games on Lichess with Acid Ape and my DGT e-board. I'm a fan of the chess.com review system though, so I'm copying the PGN of my Lichess games into my chess.com library and using the chess.com game review. It works very well once you work out where all the buttons are.

That capability used to be the realm of Chessbase and Chessking only. Now you can import your games into an online service and let their online AI bot analyze your games.

Is the review system that accepts PGN imports something only available to Diamond level subscribers of chess.com?

For playing on chess.com, nothing beats a Millenium Exclusive Luxe Edition (incl. a cabinet, ChessVolt and ChessLink). I tried a couple of other solutions like DGT, Certabo and Chessnut. With Millennium, connectivity is directly through the chess.com app on Android. Also, with this setup the board can easily be turned for playing black.
