What do you think about Botvinnik's method of preparing for competition?

Botvinnik was a very serious competitor...........took great care of his health  ( exercising and avoiding alcohol, tobacco ).     Am all for his methods.     He used top notch training partners to play serious games.     very scientific type guy.     ( am not going to open the above link )
