I noticed a new book about the history of chess has been published (August 2015). I haven't ordered it yet but it looks quite attractive and interesting.

$13.68 isn't a bad price for a 224 page hardback.

Yes, the History of Chess in 50 Moves by Bill Price looks very interesting but the price on Amazon is $29.95.  It is very strange but the lower price you quoted is posted on Amazon but is fulfilled by other booksellers for new copies of the same book which hasn't yet been published, with a different cover. (Used copies are available for $4 more (?!))

$13.68, from other booksellers but listed on Amazon...

$29.95 from Amazon

// I am guessing that the lower prices are for copies published in England and that the US version has a later publishing date. Why there is such a difference in price (and why used copies of the UK edition cost more) is beyond me.

You're right. I hadn't noticed that. How strange! Undecided

I ordered the less than half priced UK version.
