Can't you pick up an old copy of fritz grandmaster challenge for around $10? I purchased a copy a year or two ago for that much at Best Buy I think. Probably was in the bargain bin. Well hang on I think I have two copies as I lent one to my friend and forgot about it. I suppose I could sell you the other one but I'd like to send more info...
Chess Software

You can download a chess engine and a GUI for free - I use Toga II 1.4B5c and BabasChess myself. (Toga II has an estimated ELO over 2800, and on my computer it is much stronger than Rybka 2.2c2.)
BabasChess can analyze your games for you and point out blunders and recommended lines, which you can play out and see how they work. You can also analyze manually and see an evaluation for every position in the game.
I'm not sure how ChessMaster X compares to Toga II, but if you'd like to save money, I strongly recommend Toga II and BabasChess.
I want to buy a chess program that analyses games, has a database, tablebase, and just the ordinary chess computer. It has to be compatible for mac OS and should be fairly cheap <60$. Got any suggestions or ideas?
