joel,

I was on lichess.org this morning with 3.4.11 and was getting double move announcements. Not sure what that was about...

Just played 3 games on 3.4.11 announcements were okay apart from one being cut short and one not sounding at all. Everything else was great, no repeats. That was on Lichess. Very pleased and impressed with this.

This was on Mac. I’ll have a go on Win 11 tomorrow.

Thanks, @GeorgeGoodnight. Seems, I need to have a closer look at the new sound system then.

Hello, I am using chessconnect and have a spooky experience to report.

When I use my Certabo (Fazio) board with the raspberry pi bluetooth module (with the latest BLE SD image from Certabo downloads), about 1 in 4 games against bots on chess.com are interrupted when the computer moves for me. The move is always a legal move and always a sacrifice. Suddenly my bishop or rook will take a pawn and be easily captured by the bot. The game then plays on normally. I haven’t been playing often, maybe ~ 20 games against bots over the last couple of weeks, but this has happened I think 5 times.

I don’t see how this can be a bug with chessconnect, could it? This is such a strange thing and so deliberate. Random moves would feel more like a bug. Forced sacrifices in the middle game; that is just odd.

Has anyone else experienced this?

My setup: Certabo (Fazio) board, ras-pi BLE module, galaxy tablet + kiwi browser.

@spaceview214: Can you check, if you have premoves enabled? And if you have, disable them?

spaceview214

Premoves are not enabled. Actually, I just did some internet searching and found that others have experienced bots "starting to play themselves" which sounds sort of similar. I should have done some digging first. Now I regret posting this behavior here since it might be a known bug with the bots and have nothing to do with chessconnect. Sorry about that.
One curious thing is that I have also been experimenting with an esp32 flashed with cer2nut. So far, using the esp32 has been my best experience. It works very well and I have never seen any odd play by the bots. Also, connecting as a chessnut appears to have the added benefit of no random flashing LEDs that I was seeing when connecting as a certabo board.
Overall still super happy with chessconnect and my certabo board. 5 stars for both happy.png

Hi Jörn, I've just tested my DGT Smartboard with Windows 11 on Chrome browser, CC 3.4.11 and I had no repeats of move announcements and neither did I have any missed or partially missed announcements. I played 5 games, each game of more than 30 moves. Two against humans and 3 against the computer.

I did, however, have connection issues after each game. I found the only way to overcome this was to detach the USB cable, close the tab with Lichess, open new Lichess tab and then reconnect the board. Reconnecting by clicking the connect button did not work. I don't get this issue on Mac. I hope this information is of some use to you.

Many thanks

@GeorgeGoodnight: Can you send me console logs of these issues?

Sure, I've DM'd them to you Jorn. Sorry can't figure the umlaut out on Windows. I only use Windows for the DGT board and only occasionally.

I play with bip instead of announcements for the moment, and at the end, i also have "blacks win" in my langage repeated three times. But it's less annoying than during the game wink

Hi - playing on a DGT board with USB, WIndows 11 and Chrome, Chessconnect 3.4.11, Chess.com. When my opponent moves, I get both an announcement of the move, and a "bing" sound. Is this normal? Is there a way to disable the "bing" but keep the move announcement?

FWIW, chessconnect is working perfectly for me on this setup!

Thanks!

The bing happens once you have placed the piece on the correct square. There is no bing if you place the piece incorrectly. Is it that the bing is overlaying the announcement?

If it's that bing: a switch for this will be available in one of the next options.

Don't worry about the spelling of my name. Many Germans don't get this correct, either. happy

HI - I do believe it is the bing mentioned for correctly placing the opponent's piece. Now that you mention it, there were two bings when my opponent castled.

Still doesn't work on my machine. No matter, I use my Macs most of the time. Windows is just a bit too sucky for my liking ;o)

I have a released a new beta which may or may not solve the problem of move annuncements being repeated. Since I am unable to reproduce the problem myself, it's a little bit hard to say.

Does someone dare to try?
