Jörn, do you have any interest in exploring that idea of using a phone to capture the data from a conventional board and then interfacing with the various sites? I tried one a number of years ago, but it was buggy. I know you're busy, but just wondered.
Chessconnect: a free chrome extension for electronic chessboards
@GeorgeGoodnight: Maybe somewhere down the road. But that's a long road.
Sure, it'd be nice to see someone figure it.
Hi Jörn, can you please give me the correct steps to solve this problem?:
1. I am connected to Chessnut (Pro) via USB to Windows/Chrome. I click the button on the board so that the green light is on.
2. I play a quick Bot game on chess.com before a serious game to make sure everything is working.
3. I finish the bot game, reset the pieces and refresh the browser.
4. I start the game against another member.
5. The button still says "Connected" but when the game starts the board acts like there is no connection at all.
Eventually I get it working with a mixture of steps (hold down the board button twice...click the connect button and "Connect" in the dialog, refresh browser again, etc.) but it seems hit and miss because I'm not doing things exactly right apparently.
I guess the basic question is what are the most reliable steps to reset so that it works in this scenario (and maybe just when a game finishes and I want to start a new one).
@Pokervane: The "correct steps" would be that it just works. So, I would really appreciate you sending me a console log of such an incident (see my "Troubleshooting" video on YouTube).
Having said that, the most reliable way for resetting Chessconnect is reloading the browser page. If that does not help, click the "Connect" button.
If you have an Android or iOS device on hand: does the Chessconnect app have the same problem? If so, can you send me a bug report from the app (it has an extra button for that).

I kind of prefer the setup with the site on a PC screen so I haven't tried the mobile app. Next time I play around with it I'll check the console and send you anything interesting if it appears. Thanks.

Stop here....Don't refresh the browser! his will reset the connection with the board! I play with a Millenium board. What works for me:
1. Just click on "play" in Chess.com> But be aware! Do this in the same tab where you started the very first game, without refreshing! If another tab is opened (For example for a review), Then just close that tab.
2. Start a new game on the board.
And everything works well.....
Good point @Smartie74. Chessconnect only connects one single tab to the physical chess board. And according to Murphie's law, it's usually not the tab you want to be connected. 😇
Also, when I first start a new game on my board, and then click on "play" on Chess.com, then my board goes wild, and I have to restart the board.
So, the one and only correct order is:
1. Click on Play in Chess.com (in the browsertab where you started the game)
2. Start a new game on the board.
Another thing that I recently find on my Millenium King Performance: When I win or lose the game by checkmate. The last move made is still being indicated by the led's on the board. I only could start a new game after fully resetting my board. (Starting a new game, makes all the led's blinking in this case)
I recently find out that when I press the "green" (OK) button first. Then the led's goes out. And Then I have to click on "Play" and then start a new game on the board. This only happens when a game is finished by checkmate. With other words, I have to acknowledge the checkmate, before I can start a new game.
Hi Jorn - Is Chessbook https://chessbook.com/ on the list of web apps for ChessConnect integration? Thanks as always, Bob
I finally got a chrome pad and tried chessconnct. It worked perfectly on my dgt pegasus andchessnut air. I also have a Chinese eBoard. Chessconnect was able to detect and connect to it. But piece move on the board which shown with lights Did not show on chessconnect . Can joern add it to the board drop-down list? Here is the site. Thanks! https://www.yihuchess.com/
@guang0327: This brand has been requested several times now. So, I sent them a proposal for cooperation. Let's see, if I will get a reply.

I got the Genifox board too (see my thread "Genifox electronic chessboard") and the Android app works similarly to Chessconnect (Android) app, it's all done via browser. The Genifox (Android) app integrates Chess dotcom, Lichess and Chesskid platforms which work fine, but you know, it wouldn't hurt to get other options such as Chessiverse, Noctie, Maiachess and so on.
@Xonehorse1: That's ticket #232 (no kidding). I have that on my list and deal with it eventually. There is just a large number of tickets and I try to add some new stuff every now and then, too. 😇
