ChessNoteЯ - The future of chess notation
I believe I paid about $120 on eBay. With the cost of the program I remember the total cost was under $160.

We may look at this. My son (his account) played 6 games at NYC citywide this weekend (7 years old). Notation errors all, illegible in spots, and so forth. Luckily he remembers the positions so could take me through what actually happened as long as we did it right away. But if we could have just dumped the pgn onto his laptop, uploaded to chess.com (my son really likes the Self Analysis of chess.com), would have been great. Plycounter is unusable (and out of business).

Chess Note will make cheating in chess even easier. Just hide an engine inside it professionally and there you go!!
Thanks for the advice!

nbd2010,
Yes ChessNoteЯ makes it tons easier when you are able to easily just finish the game, plug in via USB and then easily go over the game using Chessbase, Fritz, or Scid vs PC.

Stauntonmaster,
You can not root the device, load 3rd party applications or unlock the bootloader to run explicit code. How exactly do you plan on hiding an engine in the application? Before posting and blasting my product maybe you should do some research on it.

Macer,
If you have questions about security on the product please feel free to reach out through the forums or our website under the FAQ. You can not load an engine onto our product to cheat, if you could do that US Chess Federation would not have certified the device.

I know you needed to respond to him to explain how it is impossible to do, but we all just ignore him. He is a troll, and not a very good one.
I did have a question - I have seen you post a couple of update notices. Does the device have to be sent in for EVERY update? And what is the turnaround time?

Rsava,
All updates are done though the Wi-Fi. Here is a video of the update process.

Currently we have been pushing updates about once a month. Here is a list of all the updates and versions, along with videos to show off the updates.
Oh, and for those wondering why anyone would want to use an electronic device like this:
1. The moves are accurately put in with no option for mistakes like writing "g3" instead of "g6".
2. There is no problem trying to figure out what was written due to sloppy writing. This happens a lot and to almost every Chess player I know.
3. Going over the game in a post mortem is actually a pleasure. If you go into a variation to decide, "what if", and want to get back to the game position all you need do is look at the graphic board picture to get that position instead of trying to remember where the pieces were or having to go back and play the game over again, with the scoresheet only to get back to that position.
4. It is very easy and fast to upload the game score to a computer. And since this new device does not need a proprietary program on the computer to take the data, like the PlyCounter, it is a very easy matter to just upload the games that are already stored in pgn format. And for the FIDE games there is also a PDF file with the game and signatures saved.
I takes me less than 5 minutes to upload the game to my computer and save it to my database and even email the pgn file as an attachment to my opponent, TD or other interested people.
This device is a tool which makes the recording of the game score and handling of that game score very easy and efficient.
