I received the 1950 Soviet/Latvian championship Chess Pieces lacquered from ChessBazaar and the Rechapados Ferrer chessboard from ChessUSA.com, who ordered a small quantity when when I advised them as the significance of the board being used in The Queen’s Gambit Series.

@SamFishChess  Beautiful! I remember when you first mentioned the ChessUSA preorder earlier this year. What a great decision. The board looks stunning in pics. I'm sure it's even better in person.

The inlaid border is just present enough to add interest but not distract. What is the name of the wood used for the light squares? I love the coloration and grain. Elm root? Is this your first RF board? It's such a different experience and feel (in a good way) to play on the supersmooth matte surface. I'm sure you'll get years and years of pleasure from it.

Thanks for taking the time to post this.

Beautiful pieces and board! This combo is on my wish list! What are the dimensions of the board, square size, etc?

You can find this board here: http://www.rechapadosferrer.com/en/tableros-de-ajedrez/rechapados_ferrer_37.html

I think “pr” means printed sad.png . I have several RPF boards - only complain that glossy surface isn’t slippery enough and I fixed it a bit with Renaissance Wax. My recommendation is to buy a board with matte finish.

What do you mean by "printed"? I'm more inclined to think the "pr" after Ash Root is an abbreviation for "prima", premium in Spanish (using Google translate).

I don’t know, frankly speaking sad.png May be it is just premium!

I just received this Rechapados Ferrer Blackwood & Olivewood board from the House of Staunton.

It has 2 1/4 inch squares and a glossy finish.  With the Christmas discount, the cost worked out to be only $171. 40 Canadian with free shipping! Such a deal!  I think this board is a fairly new creation by the Rechapados Ferrer folks and it's terrific as it goes so nicely with so many sets of pieces.  The pieces pictured are the 1951-1954 "Česká klubovka" FIDE Tournament Czech Reproduction Chessmen from ChessBazaar.

@GJW4922 - thanks for posting. A lovely board indeed! Your pictures also made me smile as I remember @magictwanger really likes those pieces and I’m sure your pics are persuading him out of collecting retirement… 😉

@Powderdigit - Hi Powderdigit!  That's nice to hear that magictwanger also likes these Czech pieces!  I hate to be the one to inadvertently prod him but retirement can be overrated!! happy.png!!   Have a great day!

I have several Rechapados Ferrer boards. I'm not sure exactly how many and I'm too lazy to go look. I know I have greenwood/birdseye boards in 2 1/4", 2 3/8", and 2 1/2" squares and matte finish. They're very nice boards and I wouldn't hesitate buying another if I wanted another board. A word of warning is that the veneer is brittle. I took a small veneer chip off the side of one corner of a board when it caught on something.

I also have a Colorado Woodworker board and it's certainly a work of art. However, comparing it to an RF board is comparing apples to oranges.
