Confusion Regarding the Weigel No. 7 Chess Set

Whilst searching for an inexpensive, durable wooden tournament chess set, I noticed the Weigel No. 7. I have always been a fan of the German Knight design, and the rook is not like the rook on the other Weigel sets. The box is just a bonus. In fact, it looked for all the world like the sets used in FIDE competitions. (On the Weigel page, they say that it is the set used in FIDE competitions. Maybe just the No. 5, but at see the rest of the post.)

But, through my eagerness, I noticed that it had no information on king weight or on king base diameter. Not trusting the Answers page on Amazon, I traveled to the official Weigel page for the No. 7 chess set.

The problem should be obvious if you look at the pictures: they are clearly not the same set!  Look at the bishop's mitre and the rook. They are not even close! Further adding to my confusion, the final picture on the page says "Staunton Standart Tournament Chess Nr. 6". Going to Amazon again, the pictures would match the No. 6 set! Needless to say, I am baffled, and thought the chess.com detectives might enjoy this.

I sent an e-mail to Wekam (the Amazon seller), and Weigel, and have yet to get a response. Has anyone bought through Wekam, and do they have weights, dimensions, and (most importantly) pics? Even if no one does, I thought this whole thing was worth posting about, just for the sheer strangeness of the whole thing.

I researched the topic once and came to the conclusion that Wegiel's No. 7 is a stylistic disaster, due to the badly designed queen. The amazon.com picture you reference shows the problem. The queen's "head" is clearly too small, especially compared to the bishop. This defect seems to be limited to No. 7. I own No. 5 and the proportions are fine.

The No. 5 looks even more out of proportion, based on the pics from Amazon. How is the rook on the No 5? Is it like in the No. 5 picture, or is it like the No. 7 picture?

My No.5 can be seen in post number 255 of the thread below:

I like to have the queen nearly the same height as the king.

@Crazychess, I love your plastic set.

@Devilish, why would a nearly 4" set have a king diameter if only 1.37 inches? It baffles me.

It really is a shame, because I like the German knight (though the Weigel version of said knight isn't my favorite). But, I wanted a tournament wood set, and that is just too small of a base. I have a very nice wood set, that I have been meaning to post for quite a while now, but have never gotten to. It has a very fragile queen top, however, and even more fragile looking rooks...

Does anyone know of a tournament sized wood set under $60 with a box?
