Hi all, am new on this forum. To answer the question above - yes indeed! My inclination is towards modern design, and there are very elegant and very playable sets. I will post pictures if there is interest, but here is a list of 6 20th Century sets I have.

a) Man Ray

b) Bauhaus

c) Joc Catalan

d) Czech Old Style Deluxe

e) Berliner Schach

f) Australian War Memorial

Perhaps, with the exception of the Bauhaus set, they can be used for everyday play, even blitz.

Ok, those are the 6 modern non-Staunton sets I have. Playing with the Man Ray is especially aesthetically gratifying.

Very nice chessmen.

The Man Ray is stylish but I doubt I can use it properly.

The Berliner and the Australian War Mem are wonderful sets.

Nice to see so many "not everyday" sets.   What a great collection, thanks for all the pictures.

Thanks Bfighter and Horace. :-)

Horace, these ARE my "everyday sets" :-)
