Elephant pieces

Does anybody know where this set comes from? I bought it today in a second-hand shop. The pieces are cast metal, heavy, and not painted or plated.

The board is very close to a Tunisian olivewood board on amazon but the pieces are not what comes with that set.

They look similar to ones called Byzantine originating in, perhaps, Turkey? But i haven't seen a pic of a set with the elephants for bishops.

The kings are 2" high, and the squares are 15/16".

That would be cool, but it's merely a quite nice six string
