For all DGT3000 Limited Edition owners

Hi, I would like to understand if I am the lucky one who got a buggy product or it is a flaw of this clock.

It works great, but I noticed that if I select program 25 (Computer/Internet use) and then I choose any time control that has starting time of 30 minutes (doesn't matter if with increment or not)... it shows 2_:00 / 2_:00 (with a blank)

Then white clock starts and counts as normal, 29:59 and all. But at start, it's that weird figure.

It happens both with Fritz, and with Chessconnect extension. It doesn't happen if starting time is 31 minutes, or 1h30.

I also have a DGT3000 "classic" (the red one), and this doesn't happen with that.

Has any DGT3000LE owner experienced the same?

Have you contacted DGT directly?

Yes, and though they replied to other mails, they did not to this. I even included the serial number. No dice.
HOWEVER... I think I have spotted a bug of theirs.

I contacted the reseller in Italy, and they have been so kind to send me a new clock. Guess what, the new clock has the very same issue.

Now, that issue is too strange, too unique to happen by chance and in 2 items both delivered to me. Wrong starting time, but only when starting time is 30:00 and clock is connected to pc? Nah.

Either it is a software bug, but I would not be the only one finding it, and in two items... other people would have noticed it; or it is a hardware failure, but what are the chance that two different chips break at the same so weird mode, and both of them gets delivered to me? I don't buy it.

I think there is a better explanation: I have a very old DGT usb board. I bought it in 2005 or so (definitely before 2008), and it was used already then. So, it's very old chipset. I am pretty sure that, despite advertising, the DGT LE is not compatible with such old boards. They never tested with those boards and nobody reported this because they're so rare...

An update... I got hold of a new bluetooth board, and also have done the same test with 4 different DGT3000LE.

Three of them had the same problem, while one had not. Of course I returned the "faulty" one - which I don't think are really faulty, there is a design flaw. I have contacted DGT with also the serial numbers, and they told me they could actually reproduce the problem, but were not sure about the cause.

So beware, there is probably a huge batch of clocks out there that have this problem, although it is unlikely you will notice because not so many play online with DGT at those time controls

Thank you. I have such clock, and I will check this. However, DGT3000 can have their firmware updated, not sure why a fix is not being produced, if this is a recognized bug.

Sure, test and do let me know! I didn't know that DGT3000 can be patched, how do you do it? Never found firmware or firmware update software...

As for fix being produced, last time I heard from them they did not exactly identify what the issue was. Also, I don't think there is much demand for that, since I was the first and only to notice.
