Fritz Chess Grandmaster Challenge III? Engine?

return fritz gm challenge, keep chessmaster, and purchase fritz 10
Or instead of fritz 10, get the new Fritz 12. I don't personally go for the fancy tutorials, etc. I look for a good analysis engine. I use fritz 11 and the functions i use- calculation training, unlimited tactics on playchess server, Engine to find best move, etc; are more than enough to improve

although I'm not sure we're speaking the same language here and I don't know how you reached the conclusion that I'm not aware of the engines you listed, it was claimed that stockfish is based on Rybka. it cannot be based on rybka if it's not a clone. It's well possible that it's not based on rybka and is free. I didn't object to that.
I think stockfish also a lot of toga an galurung,If it had any rybka then from how he went bonkers over strelka2.0b 2990 rating an robbolito an ippolit both on single 32bit cpu 3100 plus an i hear more on 64 bit multiple cpu.for all three engines he says clones however the reported inventors post evidence the other way i leave it to experts to sort out.So if anyone thought stockfish was i sure old Vas cry out about it.

Tord Rumstad, the developer of Gothmog, Glaurung and Stockfish, is a member of chess.com, and seems like a nice guy, interested in users' views and knowledgeable about programming. I somehow doubt he illegally cloned Rybka.

Just to make it clear, I agree with that, I just wanted to say it can't be "based on Rybka" (as it was claimed by hentener) if it's not a clone, because Rybka was never open source.

Can any1 tell me whats the elo rating of fritz grandmaster challeng iii?
According to the Amazon reviews, it uses the Fritz 8 engine. A few reviewers talk of features being broken (not working) in the GUI. If the engine performs as the normal Fritz 8 engine does, it should be roughly around 2670 elo.

If you're going to be throwing around engine ratings, you need to specify which versions. Newer versions of Fritz would of course be rated higher than Fritz 8.
And where did you get the 2800 rating for Chessmaster? (Again, which version?) If you're accepting Ubisoft's estimate at face value, that's where you went wrong.

Here are some Chessmaster ratings on the CCRL 40/4 rating list:

And here are some Fritz ratings from the same list:

Sorry for the necro post, but I recently snagged a used copy of Fritz Chess Grandmaster Challenge III for a dollar - I hope I didn't overpay.
It does use the Fritz 8 engine. I'm not sure about the GUI, but it might be the Fritz 9 GUI. The "Chess Course" part of the program didn't work for me; I wasn't using my internet at the time, and I don't know if the "Chess Course" required internet service. I do not see a serial number anywhere on the packaging or CD.
The "3-D" feature didn't work for me, don't know why, but I don't really use that anyway.
The whole program fits on a CD, so clearly they had to cut corners on some extras. It does have a larger games database than my Fritz 8 GUI, but the opening book is smaller than the one in the Fritz 8 GUI.
It looks like the handicap strength of the engine goes a little lower than the Fritz 8 GUI, so that's a plus for us patzers.
