Getting a new chessboard -- looking for suggestions to pieces

He seems to make really beautiful boards and have excellent ratings, my board has squares of purple heart (a little dark) and maple and a border of Peruvian walnut:

The square size is 2¼" – I was thinking ebony or another black or almost black for the black pieces, as the purple heart is pretty dark and will get darker with time I believe. King height I would go for something like 3 3/4 or 4.

My wife loves purple too, but I haven't actually told her yet that I ordered it

well if you ever get around to telling her, ill volunteer to come over and take a beating on your new board..... I think we are 3 or 4 hours away from each other if I remember correctly

Gorgeous board.....I agree with "DrChesspain".......That set would be to die for on that board.....Unless you have a preference for something else.....Lots of nice choices.

Actually, I'm guessing that with CB's typical discounts, he can get the set for no more than what he likely paid for his board.

Of course if you're married,you can always get the wife involved in the choice.....Not so sure that's a great idea.-

Hahaha I was actually thinking the same, she has good taste, but I would be scared she would pick some of the more artsy that may be good looking, but annoying to play with...
