Three is indeed Tal. But number two is not Fischer, and the author is alive and well.

All right, thanks. :)  I like your topic.  It's original and quite the brain tester.

Yeah, crazy's made some good puzzles over time, glad to see he's back at it :)

2. Nunn?

1. Seems a bit Tarrasch like.

Crazychessplaya

Doggy_Style

#2 seems to be in the style of GM Neil McDonald (ENG).

Crazychessplaya

Nope...

SisypheanLife

#2 is it Chernev?

Scottrf

Hurrah!

I deduced it thusly:

1. Contemporary of Rubinstein

2. Strong enough to beat nearly everyone, as a whipper-snapper

3. Gambling involved

Now, where's my cigar?

Crazychessplaya

Fixed the pics. #2 was born in the Soviet Union, but lives in the United States.

Fear_ItseIf

Crazychessplaya

One of them.Laughing

Fear_ItseIf

yermolinsky, because i know hes written books

Crazychessplaya

Done! All three solved.

NimzoRoy

The first one is Capablanca, apparently commenting on events at his first international tnmt in San Sebastian 1911

Who wrote the other two?
