help id'ing a set

Just picked this up for a decent price on etsy. The seller says the king is around 2.5" tall. 

Anyway a few things caught my eye - there is kingside stamping maybe? Or maybe it was done by an owner... they are just x's. Anyone know of a chess maker who did this? 

knights lead me to believe it's a british set... I have a few theories but am unsure. 

Anyone know this set?

I can't help but I will say that I like the x stamp in the rooks. It makes the knights look a little serial killerish though.

so i got the set - it's really surprisingly nice quality. very good weighting. The stamps wound up being like a red puff paint that the previous owner put on. I'll add more pictures tonight!
