Hi, nice set! The lean of the black king is very good, too. I haven't seen your set before. The Polish pyrography folding board sets of old for example look like this
or like that
These were made from at least the forties or fifties on until today in ever varying styles. Your crowns can be found here, but everything is taller in yours, and your other pieces are rather Staunton. It has a fine touch. Embrace your black king and enjoy your set! You can always look for one of these Polish sets for fun, they are offered 'en occasion' very often in Germany (under no special name).
Hi all,
i bought back in 98 (i was 15 yrs old at the time) this chess set in Annecy - France, on a local market during holiday with my family. The pieces are wooden made and in good shape, the board is foldable; the problem is that the black King bothers me a little because it’s kind of curvy; i wanted to buy a similar set because i like it more than staunton. Unfortunately i’m searching online but i can’t find any set that it’s similar, maybe because i don’t know the exact name so accurate results don’t show up.
Can anyone help me getting this set a style/name? Thank you!
