A very interesting artical, it made sense.
How chess saved my mental wellbeing: a thought provoking article.

Indeed but its unclear what he is getting out of it: structured human interaction? channelled aggression? or a meditative technical activity? I've observed my own mental state through chess puzzles (I have no desire to play chess with people I can't interact with directly so I can't comment on that part) but I haven't been able to work out what drives the long term (weeks to months) trends. Its a pity that there is no real data on chess (or similar activities) and psychological well-being.

For him him it was a renewed interest in chess due to lockdown & the QG + the memories of his grandfather , Still for others chess has & always will be apart of there life , The article fail to address thoses who never lost that affair with chess without the need of a lockdown or a TV show to keep there well being ?

“All you can do is make the best move you can, and when things really go wrong, try and find the will to reset the board and go again.”
It seems the older i get the more i find myself doing just this. I had so many other plans and dreams that have been dashed or abandoned. Not that i have a less than enjoyable life, on the contrary. However, i do wonder if and when the time will come that the will itself will also be abandoned.

It may but that's when we start to become old.
