Hi DENVERHIGH
If I am not mistaken, Kindle Fire is an Android device, so you need to download the chess.com app which can be used to play online.
For many playing chess on tablets can be easier than desktops.
Also download the kindle app which will be linked to your amazon account and you can read kindle books on your Fire HD.
The problem is not amazon, I don't just play chess. Using the App you suggested on the KINDLE i cant blog or look at that, Read the hottoBpics. Play my group games or look at the notes.
The use is limited and the font is very small. It is great for TACTICS. practice. because it is limited and time flies using that.
It is great for ordering usd and new chess books on Amazon.
But I can't use any figurins like my ants on my comments.
The app for Kindle is very limited. It's pretty much useless if you don't play chess on it. It can't do all the neato stuff other devices can. Sorry, I'd just stick with your laptop.
The amazon kindle is locked down to the amazon world.. U need to free ur fire hd by rooting it and install cyanogen mod.. It will turn the fire hd 7 into a normal tablet..basically ur modifying the operating system..

My new Kindle Fire10 Has Alexa voice control. It works better on the new # 3 chess.com version than the old 2 version.. . . .
I could read books on this tablet but I'd rather hold a REAL BOOK. . . I read mysteries
Chess, Lee Child, James Patterson and many more from the library . . .
I can blog, i can post, I can put signature figure photos, it has messenger dial up. . .
I have messenger for calling other members. It holds all my photos. . .
It doesn't have a mouse to hoover over words. . . .
Sometimes i waste a lot of time in the evenings without realizing it . . .
I've gone looking for apps but don't know how to get the at Google play . . .
Bye for now . . . Happy new year . . .
It's so ironic that I have a Kindle Fire device and a new Acer laptop that I dislike. Mainly because I don't know how to run it for Chess.com.
They call it a device and not a computer nor a book.
For Christmas of my four sons gave me a new "FIRE HD 7 KINDLE" with "The unoficial Kindle Fire Book" on how to run it.
Now I guess I will not have and excuse not knowing how to run it now on Chess.com.
The book calls it a Device not a computer. Do you have one of these that you use for Chess.com games Like I do?
This device uses Apps galore. Most of the Apps they recomend are FREE. Although if you save stuff up in the "Amazon Cloud" and you run out of space you have to buy more. The min is $10.00 a year for a bunch more space in the Cloud.
I am still amuzed that Stuff is saved in a cloud somewhere in space.
There is a little problem when using this to post comments like I do. I like to put caricatures in the comments, blogs or forums the kindle doesn't have away to browse and get them. Maybe I don't know how to do that yet, I guess I will learn soon.
Apparantly the Kindle device has many unique things that It doesn't that I was not familiar on how to do. It has VOICE recognition so I don't even have to type. It self correct typing error by finishing words before you type them.
I now that many of you use a SMART PHONES to access chess.com. I don't have any kind of cell phone. I am too far behind that technology.
It is strange that I didn't keep up with the trend, because I used to work on electronic computerized scales and computers that used DOS for programing. When I retired in 2002 I stopped keeping abreast of computers.
I sometimes have a problem when using the feature to "ANALYSE" I make a mistake that I think I am still on that phase and I accidentally make a move I didn't mean to make. Once the move is done there is no way to undue it. "Se La Vi"
If any of you use a Kindle type device please share with us how you are doing with it and the limitations you have with it. Bye for now.
