I just purchased Fritz 13 off of Amazon.com. It should be here come Tuesday. Any tips on how to use this game to imrpove? I'm looking forward to trying it out. I also got the book "the Life and Games of Tal"..which I keep hearing is a terrific read.  Happy Checkmating To All

The general advice is to spend time going over your own games at the board first before using Fritz.  Make notes, questions, etc.  Then you can set Fritz up to analyze the game overnight to check for blunders, better moves, etc. by changing parameters.  But do the hard work first on your own, don't go first to the engine.

Here's a link to an old article for Fritz 8 but the settings, while in a slightly different interface, are still valid for overnight analysis.

You made the right choice buying Fritz....

You could use frizt to analyse your games, is the best way to improve...

After analyse... You could play live in fritz server (playchess.com) or here (chess.com)

Since you bought also "The Life and Games of Tal", you could replay Tal's games from the 1.5 million games database included in the Fritz program. You can also find tutorials video in youtube and www.chessbase.com Happy Fritzing!

Annotate your OTB games in Fritz GUI interface, writing what you saw during the game, but without the engine running.

When you're done, check your game and notes with Fritz, by manually going through the game. Only pay attention to significant mistakes (red light / yellow light)
