I have Chesswise 3 on my iPad.
I went through the "play" function to enter moves and I see where games can be saved.
Where or how do you put in variations or sub-lines and annotate?

Save your game in Play, go back to the main menu and hit Annotate. The game you just ended should show up there. If you hit Help from the main menu, it'll walk you through how to annotate your game. As far as variations/sub-lines goes, I *think* you'd only be able to put them in your annotations, but, hopefully, someone with more experience with the program can jump in and correct me.
Thank you.
On my App it has an Analysis just above the Annotate one. I went into that and the Analysis aloows me to put in the sub variations and annotate as well.
Chesswise 3 continues to get better. It allows variations, and sub variations, plus move symbols like !,!?,?? etc. I have written them and ask if he will put evaluations as well.
However, I continue to think that Hiacrs Chess Explorer on a touch PC tablet is the best chess analysis too or either chessbase or chessPGN master for android. All of these are still way ahead anything on the ipad unfortunately.
i know the topic is kinda old but for those who still interested - you might find this one useful

thanks for your kind review)
how do you see a "highlight feature"? its tricky for drawing arrows without a mouse. However there is this thing called "view only mode" it's available in game explorer -> settings -> "view only" toggle. in that mode you can't edit moves (even via the board) i believe i can add arrow drawings there, will it be suitable for your needs?
there is some more unclear stuff for drawing but i can think further
You really deserve a better visibility for your app as a very nice pgn viewer.
Hard to say for the best way to draw arrows and highlight but my guess would be a dedicated menu for this feature. Actually I think that read only should stay read only. btw in read only mode I like to tap left or right directly on board for the chess moves
It is not true that, on the iPad, Stockfish's "Load Games" function "only loads games you've played on it, or from its limited collection of Grandmaster games. There is no way to put other games on it." You can copy any pgn file from a desktop to Stockfish using iTunes, and then load games from that file.
What makes Stockfish largely useless for my purposes is that, if you edit and save a game which includes the players' Elo ratings, the ratings mysteriously disappear.
