That's unfortunate they replied that way, but I'm not surprised, they keep charging year after year for the same program and asking exorbitant prices for db updates. I think most non pro folks are well served these days by the various online services including free one so a 30% discount might not be enough, but there is also the issue that you already registered the app and it's associated to your email account, this has several implications, one is that the new buyers won't get megabase updates becuase they are tied to your account, you also will have a copy of the serial and software and can reuse these and due to the way chessbase does online activations where you are given I believe 3 or 4 activations the buyer can be screwed by the serial being use by someone else, and since he was not the original buyer likely has no recourse , you also have used the premium playchess sub.

Hello, I recently decided for multiple reasons to quit competitive chess and therefore am willing and trying to sell my CB 16 and Mega Database 2021, both bound to my PlayChess account with 10 months of active subscription.
I first tried to get a refund, because the shift in my mentality happened about 3 weeks after the purchase, but they didn't agree to my plea:
> Hello, I have recently purchased chessbase and megabase, but today I decided to quit chess. Is it possible to get a refund for the purchased software? It is quite an expensive investment, which I made too hastily so I would be very glad if you understood my situation and could help me ease my mistake by refunding my purchase. Thank you for your time.
They answered:
> Dear chessfriend,
> your question (see below) for a refund for purchased software was forwarded to me.
> We see no a reason to refund the money, as the contracts, ChessBase 16 and Megbase 2021, are fulfilled by both sides. We have delivered, you have downloaded and activated the software. Therefore we do refuse your beg for a refund.
> We do regret that you have lost your interest in Chess, but we are sure the game will attract you again and the software will be useful for you.
> With best regards
> Martin Fischer
They unfortunately can't see beyond the contract that was fulfilled by both parties. I am stuck now with the software which I won't use, that could be of great use to someone else, so I'm offering a pretty decent discount for it. If anyone is willing to buy it and needs the background of my decisions, I will provide my reasons, but please don't try to convince me otherwise, for I'm just trying to sell the software.
Let me know if you are interested and we can find a way to make this work! Contact me here, on chess.com or preferably by e-mail: weetopol@gmail.com
