I'm not surprised for some reason with this chess set up

It's not a rocket science, COME ON learn it already ! ESPECIALLY if you play chess regularly!

And what about all this people surrounding him !? Gosh ...!

That would be extremely confusing, because you'd be playing the other color a tempo off and mirrored across the vertical axis. Anyone who's played almost any chess at all would know the board is set up wrong before making a move.

But notice no clock or scoresheet. This is just some guy. Maybe a celebrity pretending to be clever by posing with a chess board.

The position isn't total rubbish though, so that's a bit confusing.

The player looks a bit Manny Pacquiao-ish. If so, I’ll let someone else correct him. Don’t we see this set up in so many pictures? I just had a discussion about playing an incorrect setup this past week. It made for a far better discussion than actually trying to play this way. (And I’m just a beginner)

Is this better? I recognized the pic. It IS Manny Pacquiao, who is quite a good chess player and knows how the board is set up. The pic was reversed. A careful observation of the pic would have revealed that,

I’ve read he is an avid chess player. Kudos on correcting the orientation.

That is a nice Dubrovnik set.

Umm… sorry, that’s a Zagreb set. The knights are definitely Zagreb or Leningrad knights.

That makes a lot more sense.

Loved and followed Manny's full career....He just retired from boxing. Classy guy in and out of the ring. Many people don't know that he was injured for the fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

He took it anyway, because he didn't want to let fans down....Great fighter and a champion in many divisions.

OK,I'm done with the boxing history lesson.
