Important Historical Chess Treatises?

Sort:

I recenly got into philosophy and have been buying the classic works by the greeks, stoics, enlightenment thinkers etc. and was wondering what an "important chess treatise" collection would look like in the same vein.  I'm more interested in historical value than being able to immediately apply the treatise to my own playing, though goodness knows I do need help in that area too.

Anyways, after a bunch of googling I didn't find anything like a comprehensive list of the historical classics relating to chess and chess theory.  Would anyone be able to link me to/write me a list like that?  Curious what will come up!
