King without a cross

Hello everyone,

Is there a chess set beside the Dubrovnik set with the King without a cross?

Thank you

UpcountryRain

This one has crosses or finials on 4.8" kings:

And the Zagreb sets at HOS.

BCC sold an Imperial design chess set c1900 with a ball finial and there were many other pre-Staunton designs having Kings without a cross.  Lund, Calvert, St.George and Northern upright come to mind.

The "HoS" Renegade. Is like the Imperial c1900, but a little more rustic. Many mexican models have not crosses in the king.

I have one with a fleur-de-lys, I think that is what caught my eye when I saw the set though I could not put my finger on it -- my wife had to point it out.

I would go for the BCE.

The Reykjavik sets are gorgeous and sized well and feature a king with a spire instead of a cross.

This is what I was/am looking for as well.

Can you post images of the Reykjavik sets with a spire.

This place has standard sets and weighted sets for under $10, but they want over one hundred for shipping from China to USA: http://www.cnchess.com/en/dcp12.html

Interesting that teh King has a star instead of a cross but the Bishop still has the traditional religious mitre top.

There are some Russian sets that don't have a cross.

Yes, here is my latest acquisition, a set from  the Soviet Union, possibly Latvia, circa 1960s. My set is starting with post #20

I have played a few games with it now and like it.

In the event that @G0INGP0STAL is still on this forum. I have just purchased a vintage set (circa 2000) with this design.

May I ask when and where you purchased your Fleur-De-Lys pieces? I am just trying to track the provenance of my set to which I believe was purchased in New York.

One of my favorite playing sets is the smaller 3.75" Zagreb set from houseofchess. Very durable, good design has almost no sharp/rough edges and wide pawns.

RobertoLM

My chess sets, not of human figures, without a king with a cross.
