Those you posted look amazing but a pricey! I'd love to get the green one! I'm referring to the leatherette (faux leather) boards on ChessUSA (between $69-$89 depending on size). Unfortunately this forum won't let me post a link or pictures because I'm a new user. Not sure how many posts or games I need to play before I can?

Man that leather green one that guy does on Etsy...beautiful!

Yes, they can be pricey for some, but you're getting real leather much more durable than faux leather and he makes them in tournament sizes. The green board alone is $238.76 which is expensive but a beautiful board nonetheless. I also like his British Tan color board. It reminds me of a dark Ochre wood tournament chessboard once in stock but now sold out by the Official Staunton company in Great Britain and the owner Carl isn't restocking that particular board anymore. The British Tan board is also pricey at $172.69 but a person such as myself would find a way to harness some funds to get those two but without the leather carry tube which adds to the cost significantly.

Very true!

Actually, I was the person that had him make that board in the green for the first time.  I do own that board as well as his smaller board in the same green.

i haven’t looked at his Etsy page lately but I am not aware of being able to get it without the carrying tube.

They look very nice. How has it held up since you bought it?  Roll out flat after being rolled up for a few months etc?  Hope you are staying well.

This board is just as nice as when new.  It is kind of stiff but rolling it backwards for a bit flattens it out fine.  Thanks.

The green one is awesome! I wish I had a need for it. I also like the tobacco one for some reason. I think I like the faded light brown squares. It makes it look somewhat vintage-like.

QtoQlevel3:  Do you know how much the leather carry tube will add to the cost of the board?

The cost of the leather tube will cost you approximately $166.29 but you'll have to buy the board which is an additional $236.77 bringing your total up to $403.06. Even costlier if you wanted the chess set Mr. Sanchez sells with the board and tube.

For that kind of money, I'd forego the purchase of the leather storage tube and just get the British Tan and Tournament Green chessboards with 2.25" squares. These figures are based if you're considering the purchase of the Tournament Green 22" chessboard.

I have enough thick plastic storage tubes to accommodate proper storage and it cost me 1/9th of what the cost of the leather storage tube would run anyone buying it.

Got these from Amazon, all of them with the exception of the Blick tube. I had obtained that one on 23rd St. between 7th and 8th Avenues in Manhattan, New York City.

This is the “leatheretted” board I originally was asking about: https://www.chessusa.com/product/34-93M.html

I gather you prefer a solid instead of a rollup board.

If you want tournament size chessboards, the roll-up board is the way to go, pricey but it has a very rich prominent appearance of color and contrast for the 2.25" squares.

I love those boards sold on Etsy.

I might just buy both the BT and TG boards they sell someday in the future.

I agree, the Etsy boards are super nice although I would go for 2.25" squares instead of 2.5".

passedpawn22

Yes, agree on the 2.25” squares. Would also be cool in a 16” or 18” board but I thinks he’s aiming at a tournament usability.

QtoQlevel3

Woah, have to correct my post. There is no 2.5" square he only sells up to 2.25" but he could go bigger just custom order it.
