Me too! This is Bohemia set, apparently there are 3 versions, the simple one (chicken head), the dragon knight (the top line) and this is the middle one. Just like the dragon knight this one is weighted as well and I believe this one is harder to find than the dragon knight version.
Local finds

Cheers mister mate! I'm all set, meaning no more buy as my A list has no more entries. So I'm on my B list now

That makes sense. I think I like this one better than your last Bohemia set.

@TheOneCalledMichael. What kind if oil do you use to restore the older boards you get? Thanks in advance

When they're dirty I just used damp cloth to clean them and use a drop of boiled linseed oil to maintain the wood from further cracking. I'm not sure if that's called restoration

Another matched set. A 1.57" squares board with 3.1" dogface set. Had a little work on this board, it had unevenly applied thick layer of varnish. Took some effort to sanded it down and applied new coating of natural oil.
I think you could call this restoration.

True mister Wits. It's just most of the boards I found, they had some varnish coating applied and I suspect it's done afterwards and not professionally judging from the look of it lol. More often then not I see those old boards have varnish coating, I guess it's the trend in that time.
I sanded them lightly with steelwool 0000 just enough to get rid of the varnish coating and touch of oil to maintain them.
Now you're here, do you perhaps know what board from the 3rd picture is made of? There is something strange about that board, when I was done sanding it down it was matte finish but by the time I want to put a drop of oil it was already kinda shiny. Is it because the nature of the wood that's it's oily?
And this too

Oh those yeah, some was more out of necessity because of the uneven layer of varnish and some was so shiny that I tried to make it more matte. I only go so far as sanding it down lightly and put a thin layer of linseed oil or beeswax, depends what's closest at that moment lol

When I saw this forum I was imagining someone walking through a local industrial town on a rainy day and coming across a big warehouse with a large blue sign outside bearing the legend 'Avonmouth Chess Club' in 90s lettering. I was imagining Garry Kasparov sitting inside in the warm yellow light with a wooden chess board saying 'Come on in it's cold outside!' and offering you a cup of tea from a vending machine. Then I imagined you would speak of meeting a woman called Bertha in a burgundy cardigan with an Elo of 1050 who would make many intellectual moves over the board, most likely starting with the Reti Opening. But then I discovered my guess to be false.
Love the knights!
