@Walterbiensur The black pieces have a marvellous sheen!
@TheOneCalledMichael Very nice set! And equally impressed with the impeccable quality of your pictures. They make your sets really shine.

I had to take the time to post some pictures of this Lardy 6 in horn.
I think it dates from the 70s. It's also to thank @TheOneCalledMichael for all his beautiful photos ;-)
This set in horn, matched with that grey/black board is pure class. Add in the retro clock - that seems to have a Jetson’s look (mid-century futuristic) and you have chess beauty and rarity defined. Magnifique!

Okay, first of all: don't mock me with this, I bought these for 5€ for the kids to play in the car when travelling instead of the standard magnetic pieces. Maybe the smallest Lardy in existance? (if it is Lardy that is, but the wood seems to chech out)
This is on a board with 45mm squares, for reference with the size 6 knights from the Chavet set:

They are magnetic, so on a small magnetic board (they need approx 27mm fields) Kings are 55mm with a 20mm base.

I only have one which doesn't fit funnily enough so on the lookout. Seems the more you get, the more you need "to match". 😁 Anything magnetic with the proper fields and wood look will do though.
On second thought: they must've been sold with a magnetic board originally so if anyone would have a visual that would be a great inspiration

@BrownishGerbil Yeah that is how it is. The more you get the more you need. I have a few 3” sets that I use for my wooden 1.75” board but now I want a roll up board. Why? I have no idea other than I might want to bring it me on vacation. The only ones around are vinyl which I prefer not to use. So now I am looking around for something.

Little ones were joined by their bigger next of kin this weekend, yay!
I remember Michael talking about a label with a "7" instead of the usual "8". This is the case here too, has there been any background found on this? There's "poli" (polished) marked on the label too. In that post I remember you said "at first I thought it was varnished" so maybe it's about the polished finish?
Set has its faults though: some lean on the queens and a number of pawns with portruding weights. Work to be done!

Whats wrong with vinyl boards ? MCH818
I really like them , cheap compact light easy to carry + store & clean + good to study with , whats not to like apart from the smell of new vinyl , some days airing on a washing line & bingo you are sorted ,

Beware of the Lardy bug will catch you
Yes I did, I found ST7|5 CH but it's black one, that's why I said it's rare one. It's weird that yours is walnut stained.
So cool!
