The most recent print edition by Batsford is in Algebraic notation and contains 256 pages according to Amazon. Kindle edition is in Algebraic notation. The original 1994 Prentice Hall print edition was in the older, now obsolete, Descriptive notation and contains 258 pages according to Amazon UK. Although I own only the Batsford, Algebraic edition and not the Prentice Hall 1994 edition, based on essentially the same page count, I suspect that with the exception of the notation difference, the content is the same.

Is the 2003 edition with the orange cover also the algebraic edition?

AimHere

The Orange cover version from Batsford, as per the first three links in RussBell's post do use algebraic notation. The colophon states that the first algebraic edition was dated 1998, so that might help you sift which edition uses what notation.
